With reference to your letter of the 6th inst relative to the proposed investigation into the expenditure of the late Government of Hong Kong, I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint you, for the information of Capt. Grey, that their Lordships have caused a communication to be made to the officer in charge of the Commissariat at that Island, desiring that he and the officers and other persons under his orders will afford
the information & assistance referred to in the draft despatch, which accompanied your letter, and will aid in all respects in the prosecution of any enquiries the Governor may see occasion to institute.
